The Domus Maria hotel is located in an outstanding 17th century former monastery of the Discalced Carmelites in the Lithuania capital Vilnius. It has a great history. I was appointed by the architect to work with the textiles and to bring an elegant look to the rooms.
With one metre thick walls, high ceilings and early Baroque churches visible through all the windows (including the bathrooms!) - I instantly fell in love with this special place. The aura is magnificent and the staff dedicated. Everything is done in a modest but sincere way so I wanted to create a boutique feeling; even if the hotel has only 3 stars. I used a subtle beige & off-white colour combination, monogrammed embroidery, elegant symmetry, plush stitching for bed spreads, cushions and curtains.
I secretly hope the nuns would like it.
